SHL Admissions Requirements

We are looking for students who have the academic qualifications, the enthusiastic personality and the willingness to devote themselves to the student body and the school.

During your application, our admissions team is here to help at every stage. They can set up a one-to-one meeting, in person or online, to give you the information and support while you apply.

To apply for your place at SHL, please complete the online application form. To submit your application, you will need to upload the following documents:

  • Copy of passport and a recent photo
  • High school diploma and transcripts for the last three years*
  • Work certificates (if applicable)
  • English language certificate (if applicable)
  • CV
  • Letter(s) of recommendation*
  • Admissions essay

The application fee of CHF 280, you can pay it online using Visa or MasterCard. Once we have received your complete application and payment, our Admissions Team will check all your documents.

SHL Transfer Opportunities

Transfer students to SHL must fulfil the same admission requirements as our first-year applicants for the bachelor programme. We encourage you to read the information on the Admission Requirements page to find out what we look for in our students or get in touch with our Admissions Team directly.

ONLINE INFORMATION SESSION

 

Transfer to Semester 3

Students with the following types of background are eligible to apply for transfer (6 semesters at SHL)*:

  • SHL Students: students must have completed semesters 1-2 and at least 6 months of internship
  • Hospitality schools in Switzerland: students must have completed at least one semester F&B Operations and at least 6 months of internship

* Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis

Transfer to Semester 5

Students with the following types of background are eligible to apply for transfer (4 semesters at SHL)*:

  • Hospitality schools in Switzerland: students must have completed a minimum of 60 ECTS and at least 12 months internship**
  • Hospitality programmes in the USA: students must have completed an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management with a minimum of 40 US credits and at least 12 months internship**
  • Other Hospitality Schools: please get in touch with our Admissions Team

* Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis

** Applicants without Swiss work experience might be required to complete an additional paid internship in Switzerland

Transfer to Semester 6

Exclusively for graduates with the title: Dipl. hôtelière-restauratrice HF-ES-SS / Dipl. hôtelier-restaurateur HF-ES-SS (Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Hospitality Management) from a Höhere Fachschule HF | Ecole supérieur ES | Scuole specializzate superiori SS in Switzerland, SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern offers you the opportunity to complete our BSc in Hospitality Management in only 3 semesters.

The programme is offered in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Lucerne (HSLU) and takes place on the SHL Campus in Lucerne.

Internal Transfer Students

Students applying for internal transfer follow a simplified application process but will complete the standard admission process. To apply for your place in the BSc in Hospitality Management programme, please complete the application form and submit your application with the following documents directly to the Head of Admission:

  • High school diploma

  • English language certificate (if applicable)
  • CV
  • Letter of recommendation
