Right at the heart of it

Switzerland has always been a richly diverse country, where lots of languages, cultures and traditions mingle and interact. Come to SHL and you’ll enjoy all the sights, sounds and tastes of influences from around the world. Lucerne isn’t just a hub for Swiss tourism however, the city also plays host to a wide range of musical and cultural events all year long, like the famous Blue Balls Music Festival and the Lucerne Carnival.

You can’t come to Switzerland without seeing the world-famous scenery. And here at Lucerne you won’t need to go far do to that, as the majestic Alps are literally on your doorstep. You could spend a weekend skiing in Zermatt, or have a day sightseeing in world-famous Interlaken, just a two-hour train journey away. The designer shops and opulence of Zurich are also close by.

If you’d like to explore Europe while you’re here, Lucerne puts so much within easy reach. Visit the art galleries of Paris. Glide along the canals in Amsterdam. Go sightseeing in London. World-class destinations will be just a short train or plane journey away.

Student life

Studying with the best of the best is a delight in itself. But we make sure your day-to-day life is as pleasant as possible too. There are high standards of accommodation, with contemporary and stylish learning and living spaces. There are also plenty of creative areas, restaurants and cafés where you can unwind, find inspiration and get together with friends. 

While you’re here, you can take advantage of our connection with the landmark Art Deco Hotel Montana, a 4* Superior hotel and Switzerland’s Hotel of the Year 2018. A part of your lessons will take place in the hotel for you to develop your skills with expert tuition in a real-life setting. The state-of-the-art campus also houses an all-new wine cellar where you can build up your understanding and appreciation of some of the world’s finest wines. 

Our restaurant serves 250 guests every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For something more informal, The Club, Boost Zone and Café Milano are relaxing spaces where you can meet up with friends, lecturers and colleagues to enjoy good food and great company.

You’re making some excellent choices. In 2019 alone, TOPHOTELPROJECTS reports that 729 new hotels will open across the globe, while 5,823 hotel projects are currently under construction. The industry has never been so buoyant, or so hungry for talent. 

Deloitte’s 2018 Travel and Hospitality Industry Outlook predicts that the hotel industry will sustain strong growth of five to six percent throughout 2018. The global travel industry took gross bookings of $1.6 trillion in 2017, making it one of the largest and fastest growing sectors in the world. When you factor in other, indirect economic contributions, travel and tourism account for a staggering 10.2% of global GDP. 

There is so much opportunity just waiting for you, and by studying at SHL you will be ideally placed to make the most of the potential. You could choose to specialise in one area, or get a full grounding across a range of disciplines. You may even want to gain the skills to fulfil your ambition to be an entrepreneur.
